Today I’m doing a review of CPA Ads Academy and an interview with creator Brian Gonzalez

There is a bit of a story behind how I ended up being interested in this product which Ill go over briefly.

I first met both Brian and Stefan in person a few months ago in Orlando at the JVZoo marketing event. While I was there Brian and I had lunch together and he started telling me about how he was doing YouTube ads to build his list and then use that list for CPA and affiliate offers. I thought it was interesting, and I really wanted to learn more about what he was doing. But there where so many people to meet, so many things to do, and we never really had much time to talk about his tactics in depth over the 4 days that I was down there.

When I got back from Orland I went back to work and almost forgot the conversation  that we had until one day, when I was tweaking my Facebook ads which I personally run for list building and I remembered our conversation about his success with YouTube. Also I have seen some other company’s in the digital marketplace using YouTube ads. People such as Ryan Deiss from Digital Marketer and Alex Backer from Source Wave. I made a mental note to reach out to Brian to continue our conversation and learn his tactics in depth. Unfortunately I’m largely a one man show in my business, I always have a lot to do, and I got distracted and frankly forgot about it again.

Fast forward to about 10 days or so ago and Stefan reached out to me to tell me about a new training course that he was releasing with Brian that explains his tactics for using YouTube ads. Well I was not going to put it aside a second time. I knew I had to stop procrastinating and that reviewing this training was an opportunity to both help people considering picking it up but to also finally learn exactly what Brian was doing myself.

So what exactly is he doing? Well in short he is using YouTube ads to send traffic to squeeze pages in order to build a list. He is then monetizing that list with affiliate marketing and sending out CPA offers. In the training, as you can probably guess by its name, he talks primarily about monetizing with CPA offers but I know from speaking to him that he also sends the lists be builds from the YouTube affiliate offers as well. The basic tactic is still the same either way. Create the ad, use it to send traffic to a squeeze page, monetize the list you build.

Now the fist step is probably going to be the most intimidating for people. The ad creation part. I know a lot of people cringe at the thought of standing in front of a camera and doing a ‘talking head’ style of video. The good news is that there is no need to do this (unless you want to). You can get a video made on Fiverr for about .. $5. You can also use any of the video creation tools you might have purchased, such as white board video makers, Explaindio, and any of the many others that have been released in the last 2 years or so to make your video ad. So really there is no reason at all to let a fear of making a video hold you back.

As for the training itself. There where some things that I liked about it, and some things that I did not.

The training was good. Brian sometimes gets a little excited when he is speaking and gets ahead of himself a little. However over all they where pretty well made. They are not overly long. Are broken up into logical steps, and are not filled with a ton of fluff. I was also pleased to see that he does not waste peoples time by making you watch a log intro at the start of every video (something which is a personal pet peeve of mine).

The thing I did not like is the members area itself. It felt a bit cheap. Its based on WordPress, using a plugin to create the members area. This is not horrible or anything. However given the price range for the training I would have expected a higher quality members area. If not a custom system, at least a higher end system. This might not bother other people as much as it does me. As a developer I tend to be more picky than other people about things like this. Also to be fair, what your buying is the content, not the site. So its not the end of the world.

What I really like most about this training though is that this is something that Brian is doing himself. Though I cut it out of the interview (because I had a hard time editing the video to hide his personal information) Brian actually logged into his Max Bounty (a CPA network) live in front of me and showed me his results. Also when I put him on the spot and asked him to show me one of the squeeze pages he links to from his YouTube ads for list building he sent it to me right away. He even offered to log into his Lead Pages account and show me that this is actually his squeeze page. Its nice to see someone teaching something that they actually do themselves and who is not afraid to prove it to me. Though many people don’t know it, I look into a lot of products each month that never get past the initial ‘checking it out’ stage and one of the main kinds of products that I quickly cut out are training products where the creator does not have adequate income proof to convince me they are qualified to be teaching people.

One thing I’m a firm believer of is that a purchase decision should be based on the FE offer only. The logic being that either the FE offer is a good value, or it is not, and really what your offered later does not have any effect on that. However a lot of people have been asking me if I would at least mention the funnel in my reviews, and even though I still believe it should not matter, I need to give my readers what they want. So while I did not test / review the OTO’s I at least want to tell you what they are.

So here is a graphic right from the JV page that shows the products pricing in the funnel and it also shows the commissions that the affiliates get for each product. (nothing wrong with being totally transparent).

The front end is $27 (I believe they will have a early bird / discounted pricing for a few hours initially) and is the main training that explains setting up YouTube ads, using them to drive traffic to squeeze pages , then finally monetizing the list you build with CPA offers. OTO 1 is additional training on how to maximize your income potential with three different kinds of re-targeting. Finally OTO 2 is a ‘done for you’ package where they provide links to offers they hand selected, pre-made videos for the offers, and premade squeeze pages for you to send traffic to.

So what do I think about CPA Ads Academy? While I personally would prefer to monetize my lists with affiliate offers, CPA does have a lot of appeal in that there are CPA offers you can promote in just about any niche. Because of this CPA is going to be the better choice for anyone not in the ‘make money online’ niche like I am. I really like the training and I really like that it teaches you how to build a list as opposed to just sending traffic directly to the offer. This is far better because once you build your list you have a resource that you can use to make money over and over with however by sending traffic directly to an offer, that lead is lost no matter if the buy the offer your promoting or not.

One of the keys to an online business is being able to master traffic. Getting low cost paid traffic is an essential skill that is going to return long term. Because of this I’m going to say that CPA Ads Academy is worth considering for anyone interested in list building, CPA marketing, and using YouTube ads as a traffic source.
