Big change to the way I do affiliate promotions

Posted September 29, 2017 by Brett Rutecky in Uncategorized

Today I want to announce a big change to the way I do affiliate promotions:

Besides being a product vendor who sells his own software and training I also do affiliate marketing. If after extensively testing something I feel it is a good value I may suggest it to my followers. Often, because I also like my followers to get the best deal and value possible I will offer one of my own products as a special bonus for anyone who picks up the product I am suggesting though me.

However I realized that this can be unfair to my most loyal followers because many of them will already have the product I am promoting. This has always caused a conflict. On one hand I want to give my new followers the opportunity to get something that they dont have, but on the other hand I dont want to ‘leave out’ my most loyal followers who already have the bonus I am giving away.

Because of this I decided that the only fair thing to do is to implement a ‘bonus exchange’ policy. With this new¬† policy, if I offer a bonus (of my own product), and one of my followers already has the bonus I am offering, they may exchange that bonus which they already have for a similar bonus of one of my other products. It is important to note that this needs be a even exchange (in value though) though. For example: a plugin can be exchanged for a different plugin, A SaaS can be exchanged for a different SaaS (or a plugin), a Agency can be exchanged for a different Agency (or a SaaS, or a plugin).

To facilitate this exchange one only needs to send the following information to my support  desk (

  • The receipt ID for the product they purchased through me as an affiliate
  • The name of the existing bonus which they wish to exchange that I offered in the affiliate promotion
  • The name of the product that they would like to exchange for

This policy will go into effect on 10/01/2017 and will apply to promotions and bonuses I offer from that point forward. I feel like this is the best and most fair way to give all of my followers, new and old, the best value possible. If you have any questions or comments feel to reach out to me.

A quick note about the reviews I do on this site. The product vendors give me access to their products for free in order for me to do my review. However I make no promises to them regarding the results of my tests or what I will write in my review. Should you click a link that takes you to a sales page for a paid product for sale this link will be an affiliate link and I will be paid a percentage of the sales price should you decide to invest in it.

I’m delighted too, as I have bought some of your products and witnessed them being offered for free…so thank you for your honesty and integrity Brett.

    Thank you Brett

Although I may still purchase through your link if I really need/want the product because you recommended it. This is great because often times I already own the bonus, so…

    Thanks mentor.

Outstanding, as anyone who has followed you BR knows, telling it like it is and whining is not on the board. Yes, it just got better and better.

    Muchos Gracias

Thanks Brett. Very fair. That’s why I will recommend you first when others are looking for an honest review and affiliate suggestions. You don’t mince words.

While I don’t always agree with you and feel you can come of a bit abrasive sometimes, I must admit that I think this is a very fair and generous policy you’ve decided to implement. Thanks Brett!

    Very fair policy Brett… Thanks!

    Hey Brett:
That’s an awesome bonus policy. Speaking as, what I have think of myself as, one of your very good customers…. its great.

So as a sort of related question. I was lucky enough to get in on your 200 beta test group for MyMailit. I’m just now putting together a new blog. I’ve got the domain up and WP installed and I was going to install your Mailit Plugin. (Which I have Agency Access to). As I don’t want to wait a month to get my Blog up and running. Do you suggest I go ahead and install the Mailit Plug in… or wait on email collection and sending till you release My Mailit… (I’m not sure if setting up Mailit first will make things confusing when it comes time to set up MyMailit….

Thx again for the great Bonus Plan. I have a number of your products and will probably be one to use it…. thx

    Thank you very much!
