EZ Video Creator

Today Im doing a review of EZ Video Creator and an interview with vendor Matt Bush

So Ill be totally honest, when I first took a look at EZ Video Creator I was a bit disappointed. Judging by its name I expected a full featured video editing software. However after speaking to Matt I realized that my expectation was wrong and that EZ Video Creator is not in any intended to be such a software.

What EZ Video Creator actually is, is a template editor. We have all seen video templates where you can get premade Power Point templates. You edit the template than export as a video or use a screen cast program to record the presentation playing. Then after you do that you use a video editor to add a background music track. This software takes that concept and expands on it by not only giving you the templates but by also letting you do basic editing on the videos right in the ‘cloud’ through your browser.

This software is definitely designed for people who work with offline clients. The video templates are built around themes for specific business types such as locksmiths, real estate agents, computer repair shops, car dealerships etc. The FE version of this software comes with 50 pre-made video templates. The videos are in a fixed state, you cant edit the graphics of the video but you can edit the text in the video so that it can be customized to some degree to the local business you are working with.

The strength of this software is that by simply editing the text in the videos you can quickly create a ‘explainer’ style video for a local business. This strength is also its weakness in that only the text is editable, not ALL of the text is editable and there are no options for things such as text color, or different fonts. This is a natural trade off, ease and speed vrs flexibility though I do wish it had some more options and I do wish all the text was editable. The video example that I made below with EZ Video Creator took me about 30 seconds to make. All I had to do was edit the text.

You can see the white text on the black background that was not editable. Though to be honest this might not be a big deal for about 95% of the people using this as the non editable text normally fits into the context of the video.

This is a web based platform (SaaS) that has been built on top of WordPress. Why they chose to do that I cant say and from the perspective of a developer it really does not make a lot of sense to me. However the system is very straight forward and easy to use. When I first started testing this the tutorial videos where not yet completed. But it was simple enough to understand how to use that I did not need them anyway, and honestly I don’t think anyone will have any issues using EZ Video Creator. It really is easy.

The videos are high def, explainer style and well made. You can hire someone on Fiverr to make these kinds of explainer videos and they normally charge around $5 per 5 seconds of video.

As I said the example video above was made very quick. It only took me about 30 seconds to edit the text, however that is not the entire time it takes to ‘create’ a video. Though 30 seconds to was the time I spent actually doing work I also wanted to see how long it would take to actually render my video so I could download it. For the video above I pressed the render button at 10:29pm and I was able to download my video at 10:50pm. So it took about 21 minutes to render a 1 minute video. This is slow when compared to a desktop software but not horrible for a web based video tool. Also since its cloud based it was not slowing up my computer while it was rendering like my video editor always does. So I was able to do other work while I was waiting for my video to render.

So what do I think of this over all? While there are videos designed for online niches included with the 50 templates the vast majority of the videos are centered around working with offline clients / local business’s and people who work with these kinds of clients (or want to) are going to get the most benefit. I know that explainer videos like this can be had from sites like Fiverr but I also know that they can be quite expensive.

While EZ Video Creator is not a full featured video editing tool it does come with a lot of templates (50) that you can quickly edit and customize (the majority of text) to be able to create explainer style videos. Just selling one video will get you a large return on the low cost your paying for the entire system, and if you have your own offline business you can make a video for your own business since this requires absolutely no tech skill what so ever. Because of this, for anyone who works with clients, or who owns an offline business Im going to say this is well worth considering.

UPDATE: The vendors gave be a coupon code for $3 off the current price. Use code “3off” at check out. Im not sure how long this code will last though but be sure the try it and see if its still active.

A quick note about the reviews I do on this site. The product vendors give me access to their products for free in order for me to do my review. However I make no promises to them regarding the results of my tests or what I will write in my review. Should you click a link that takes you to a sales page for a paid product for sale this link will be an affiliate link and I will be paid a percentage of the sales price should you decide to invest in it.

    Brett,

Just a couple of questions….Are you able to upload other videos to be edited? or is it a set number in the system….probably an upsell to add more videos monthly…thanks.

can you choose fonts/size of text?

    does it render as MP4?

Thanks for review…also just listened to your “being transparent” video–thanks for that!

    Alexa

  2. Brett Rutecky, 01 April, 2016

Yes you can download them and then upload them to somewhere else, like I did with this video on YouTube. The videos are mp4

  3. Alexa Casey1, 01 April, 2016

No…I mean upload other videos into system to be edited. I know you can download them.

  4. Brett Rutecky, 01 April, 2016

No as both I and Matt say in the review text and the interview video this is not (nor is it intended to be) a full featured video editor.

  5. IDoStuFF4u, 01 April, 2016

  6. Hal, 01 April, 2016

  10. Andi, 01 April, 2016

Brett, you re awesome as always. Just wanted to point out that you said in your email that it’s EZ Web Creator, but when I clicked the link to this page I found out that the app has nothing to do with creating websites but rather a EZ Video Creator. Can u clarify?

  11. Brett Rutecky, 01 April, 2016

That was a typo, the name of the product is EZ Video Creator, thanks for catching that.

  12. Andi, 01 April, 2016

I always look forward to your emails.
If you come across such apps for easily creating websites, please email me. Keep up the good work. Thanks

  13. Brett Rutecky, 01 April, 2016

Why not just use WordPress, its fast, easy, free, and has a ton of customization options.

  14. Andi, 02 April, 2016

    Right on. Many thanks

  15. Yancey, 01 April, 2016

Internet resources providers overwhelmingly continue to consciously or unconsciously perpetuate or overlook the “Mt Everest in the room” What is that….the blatant lack of DIVERSITY IN video and graphic creation! While most of these products including this one provide professional quality models of color.

Everyone who does business on and offline are not Anglo-European. Yet over 95% of video product ads represent ONLY that ethnic group. Yes…95% I’ve been doing this research for several years now. IM businesses and product creators that understand displaying insight and provide these same resources to ethnic diverse groups will reap EVEN greater profits!!

This reply is intended to raise awareness ;0)

  16. Brett Rutecky, 01 April, 2016

    Ummm .. ok.

  17. Mel, 01 April, 2016

    Hey Brett
Love and appreciate your reviews as always.
Have some of Matt’s previous products.
Wondering what templates are included with this. Did not see them listed anywhere.
    Is that info available anywhere?
    Thanks!

  18. Brett Rutecky, 01 April, 2016

There are lots of templates, 50 of them on the FE, it would be a pretty log list πŸ™‚ They are for local business’s, such as lock smiths, real estate agents, computer repair, etc. (as I said to many to list them all)

  19. Paul Woodall, 02 April, 2016

    Hay Brett,

Again a great review and much appreciated.

Matt routinely mentions his product as video “commercials.” But, I assume (and this is a question) the the videos are not really intended to be used as on-the-air commercials for any specific company? Would you expect to see video made with this system on TV for instance? Or, are they (as I expect) intended for use on the Internet only?

  20. Brett Rutecky, 02 April, 2016

No I dont think they would be suite for TV, they are probably best for internet ‘commercials’.

  21. Greg, 02 April, 2016

How much is the “nominal” fee per video, if you go over 100 videos per month? (See 19:00 mark in the interview video above).

  22. Brett Rutecky, 03 April, 2016

Its not per video, its a single extra fee per month if you go over 100 renders per month. I think they base it on your volume honestly. Also frankly I think its unlikely people will go over 100 per month.

  23. Christer, 03 April, 2016

Hi, can I use Swedish letters like ÅÄÖ Γ₯Àâ?

  24. Brett Rutecky, 03 April, 2016

Yes! I just did a test where I copied and pasted those exact characters you asked about and it worked fine.

  25. Christer, 03 April, 2016

    Thank you.

  26. Rich, 03 April, 2016

Thanks for the great review, after watching everything i quickly realized this is not something that meets my needs but your review saved me tons of time and headaches!
Thanks for the review ! :0)
