One thing that many people don’t understand about making money online

Tonight I had some free time, so I made a training video that explains one thing  that many people don’t understand about making money online.

Key things to take away:

  1. Its impossible to make money online or offline unless you have something of value. The only way to make money is to trade value for value.
  2. Having your own product is one of the best ways to have value online.
  3. If you want to do affiliate marketing you still need to provide value, in fact you have to provide extra value, not only to get people to buy the product your promoting, but to ensure that they buy from you and not from any of the 50 other people promoting.
  4. Interviews and Reviews are a great way to add value of you don’t have your own product or don’t have any bonuses.
  5. When doing interviews or reviews your trading your time for money, but this is not the same as working at a job, when you work at a job you trade your time ‘hour for hour’ however online you can get paid multiple times for every hour you invest.
  6.  The most important question you can ever ask yourself in your business, is how can I provide value to people, until you answer this you will not do consistently well.

A quick note about the reviews I do on this site. The product vendors give me access to their products for free in order for me to do my review. However I make no promises to them regarding the results of my tests or what I will write in my review. Should you click a link that takes you to a sales page for a paid product for sale this link will be an affiliate link and I will be paid a percentage of the sales price should you decide to invest in it.

A lot of people talk about giving value but no one really takes the time to explain it like you just did. Now I have a framework for planning whatever value I want to add to a product I promote. Awesome. Thank you Brett.

Great video and details, Brett. I love that you brought out the focus people everywhere really “should” have, which is providing value FIRST. As a side note, for people wondering how they can provide value if they’re not an expert in their niche, a key thing to remember is ‘if you know more than someone else, you have valuable information!” And you can always find answers to people’s questions by doing research, then put the questions and answers together in a report, audio file, video, etc. to deliver the value.

Interviews are great for people who are not an ‘expert’. Because many of the customers are not going to be experts either, so by asking questions you might have, your getting answers from the vendor to questions others are likely to have as well.

    Hi Brett,
Great information as usual, this is why i keep coming back to your bog instead of someone elses. You break down not just what to do but give examples of how to do it in a step by step way. This is what people need, most of us get lost, not just in the shiny object syndrome but in what steps do i need to make, where to start, etc.
Keep it up and as always i will be back to see what your coming up with next!!!

Your comment is a perfect example of what I was trying to teach in this training. I want people to keep coming back to my blog, and I get that, by exchanging value (in the form of training and reviews) for you choosing to visit my blog as opposed to others. For any business online or offline, the primary goal should always be to focus on giving to people, not taking from them. (at least that’s how I see it).

thanks for this post brett, if you don’t provide value in your business, then your business and anything you do online then ultimately won’t be successful. it really resonates with me as my first product that launches in a few weeks actually is an interview product on blog monetisation.

    Straight shooting as always.

I do get caught up in the shiny object syndrome sometimes but reading your blog always grounds me again.

Useful training, and I have shared on Twitter, G+, and FB so others can stop by and view it as well.

As always, I appreciate your efforts to operate in an ethical manner online in all areas of the IM niche.

    Too many do not…

Excellent point. If people would take it into consideration they
would not spend all their money looking for “quick easy money”

Very well formulated: The difference between a succesful offline business and a sucessful online business is not essential; the tools are.
The ghost of this video will inspire me for an own version.
    Thanks Brett
