As a programmer and online entrepreneur one of the hardest things for me has always been graphic design. It has also been one of the most expensive aspects to my online business. Next to advertising costs graphics design is the second highest cost I have.
Skilled designers are expensive costing anywhere from $30 – $50 per hour for there work. Then you have the time loss cost of working with the designer. Reviewing there drafts, checking there changes, and giving them feedback all takes time. Time that they are not only billing you for but time that you could also be spending doing something more productive.
Even something that seems as simple as getting a logo designed can be such a real hassle and expense. Traditionally there have been a few options, none of which are ideal.
Hire a local firm: Hiring a local design firm in your city is probably one of the most expensive options ever. A local design firm is going to charge between $250 and $500 for a basic logo design depending where you are located. Also with a local firm your limited to the style and type of work that that firm offers. There is no variety.
Freelance sites: Sites like Elance and Odesk have designers that will create a logo for you at low cost. Normally around $50-$100 depending on where the freelancer is from. However there are problems with that. First you have to put a lot of time into hiring a freelance worker. You have type up and post the job, check the reviews of bidders, look at there portfolios, and with most freelance workers you have to basically hold there hand through the entire process. Then you hope that everything goes smooth because if it doesn’t you have a lengthy and annoying arbitration to go through just to get a refund. Over all not the best of options.
Crowd sourcing sites: 99designs.com and other crowd sourcing sites will let you get logo concepts from several designers from which you can choose the one you want and only pay the selected designer. However it comes with many of the same problems as just hiring a traditional freelancer. You still have to write up the description and post the job. You still have to review all the submissions and give feedback. Also cost is less than desirable. With a base cost of $299 that can go as high as $1199. Over $1000 for a logo! Thats insane!
Logo Creator is an excellent software that lets even me create awesome logos:
A while back I bought the logo creator software by Marc Sylvester and Im so glad I did.
Honestly Im probably the worst possible person for making a logo. Im so bad with design, color matching, and making things look good that when I take my lady out for a nice dinner she has to pick out my suite or else Ill look like a clown. But with the Logo Creator software Im able to use dozens of preset templates combined with its easy to use interface to build professional quality logos quickly and painlessly.
Look like a high end company without the high end price
I have used the Logo Creator software for several of my website logos and have saved over $600 in graphic design work. Your logo is going to be a visual representation of your online business it must look great. If you dont have the budget (or the desire) to spend hundreds of dollars on a graphic designer then you should strongly consider the Logo Creator. Its an extremely viable and cost effective way to get high quality logos without the cost.
Update 12/23/2016: I originally wrote this review in Feb 2014, nearly 3 years ago, after I purchased the Logo Creator for myself. This was one of the first digital product purchases I ever made for my business and I still use it to this day. In fact I have used it to make logos for several of my recent products. The logos for MailIt, Group Traffic Profits, Affiliate Trax, and my soon to be released Review Wizard plugin have all been made with the Logo Creator. I can honestly say that this software has provided me with some of the best value for my money that I have gotten from any investment.

A quick note about the reviews I do on this site. The product vendors give me access to their products for free in order for me to do my review. However I make no promises to them regarding the results of my tests or what I will write in my review. Should you click a link that takes you to a sales page for a paid product for sale this link will be an affiliate link and I will be paid a percentage of the sales price should you decide to invest in it.
this internet web site has got some really superb information for everybody : D
Logo Creator is a tool I use daily! I make FB ads with it, I have EVERY add on pack, and it is as useful to me as Photoshop.
I’ve even designed t-shirts on it when I was on a laptop without PS and needed a quick one made.
this is incredible!
Hi ya Brett
I had the demo version a while back always thought it was good, received your review and it was a no brainer, bought it and the full version is awesome, thanks Brett.
Hey! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog.
Is it very hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things
out pretty quick. I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure
where to start. Do you have any points or suggestions?
Cheers
Appreciate the recommendation. Will try it out.
Brett, I picked up The Logo Creator (now just called “The Creator”) when it was first released and I have to agree with you 100%. It is probably the best software that I’ve ever purchased.
I own several of the add on packs like The Character Creator, Business Card Creator, People Pack, and Mascot packs 2 & 3. I use this software for just about all of my graphic needs.
I even use it to make all of my sales and squeeze pages! It is hands down one of the best graphic software apps available on the market. Not only that, Marc Sylvester is always coming out with amazing new add-on packs that increase usability. As if that’s not enough, the support is incredible and they are constantly updating the software and making it better, all at no charge to people that already own it.
Granted, it can’t do everything that Photoshop can, but it can certainly do just about anything an IMer needs, and the learning curve is SO much easier!
would have to agree it is a great piece of designing software I use it myself and continue to find them making more valuable graphics packs all the time. Definitely worth getting
agree 100%, one of the best design platforms out there…What I like best is the continous improvments and updates they keep pushing every few months or so and I also like the ability to bolt on other modules/templates that they release every few months or so..It just demonstrates that these guys are proud and want to constantly improve the software, they are right behind this baby for a long time to come..Have a nice break everyone here….Kami
Thanks Brett for this recommendation.
Purchased on Xmas Day as a present to myself and have to admit that it is a very smart piece of kit!
Have managed to create a logo for a new website and am thrilled to bits with it. So simple to operate and myriads of choices when building any graphic with the software.
Saving up to purchase some of the other modules now.
