Tonight I finished testing WP Video Profits and am writing my full review.
WP Video Profits has a really catch and exciting sounding name. We all love video, and we all love profits after all. But really, that exactly is this new WordPress plugin?
To answer that it makes sense to first understand a couple of things. Video is by far the content type of choice on the internet. People love video. It grabs their attention and engages them in ways that text does not. It’s a fast way to get content which is perfect for the fast pace of the internet. While some people are different, a large percentage of the people online would much prefer to watch a video than to read a few thousand lines of text.
However while video is a great content delivery system, from the marketers perspective its really only half the battle. Most people who run a website want people to take some kind of action. They want people to optin to their list. They want people to click a call to action (like a buy button or an affiliate link). At the very least they want people to share their site on social media, like it on Facebook, or hit it with a Google +1.
Here video actually becomes a hindrance to people running websites, as all of the things they might want people to do are besides the video. Let me give you a good example. You make a cool free training, tutorial or demo and are hoping people will like / share it on social sites in order to generate more traffic to your blog. You know people like video so you use that to deliver your content (perhaps with some text for the search engines). Sounds great right? Well its good for the site visitors but its bad for you. Why is it bad for you? Because people can come to your site, watch your video, then leave right away without ever even noticing your share / like buttons which are away from the video.
Video is a fast paced thing and it delivers the content the way people want it but that also means that when someone comes to your site they need not pay attention to anything besides the video itself. If they are not paying attention to anything besides the video, this means they might not notice your share buttons. They might not notice your optin form. They might not notice your call to action. They are focused on the video since that is what they want.
The solution of course is to make the things you want them to see, the social links, the call to actions, the optin form a part of the video. This is exactly what WP Video Profits does. With this plugin you can take your videos (works with YouTube and Vimeo) and put the things that you want inside of the video itself.
In the version I tested (which was the upgraded pro version, that is worth investing in if you pick up WP Video Profits) there where a total of 17 different elements you can add into your video. Of these elements probably the most important are going to be the share buttons, the like buttons (for viral traffic) and the optin form for building your list. You can add as many of these elements into your video as you like (you can even have the same one more than once) and set them to load at the beginning of the video, at the end of the video, or after the video has been playing for a specific number of seconds. Also in the case of the optin form or the social buttons you can have the video stop playing and require the user to actually take the action in order to continue the video. In this way you can ‘lock’ a video if you like.
Being able to lock a video has some powerful implications. For example you can make a video an entire squeeze page with this in three easy steps. Step 1) Have a video that explains what people are getting for free. Step 2) near the end of the video have a social share button which locks the video and tell people to share to get the freebie you just described (for more traffic). Step 3) After they share the video continues and they are then told that the last step is to enter their name and email in order to get the freebie. You can then have your autoresponder send them the access link, or use the call to action element to display an access link for them right away after they optin.
This is just one idea of what you can do with this software. Its a bit more of an in-depth idea but it shows the power of this system. You might just be fine having you social buttons, optin form, and other elements be in the video itself so people will you know .. actually notice them for once 🙂
Now I’m going to admit when I was testing this I did notice that the optin form element did integrate with several popular autoresponders however it was missing one that I thought it really should have. My own Mailit WordPress plugin. So I asked them if they would consider integration with it. And sure enough they did:
So what do I think of WP Video Profits over all? Well here is the thing. I don’t believe this is some kind of magic get rich quick plugin. Your not going to start using this and then suddenly cash is going to start spitting out of your DVD ROM drive (do computers still even have those). What I do believe is that it is a well made tool that solves an actual problem a lot of people have, even if they don’t know it. The problem is that while people want their content in video format that also means that people who visit your site will often only pay attention to the video itself and largely ignore the other things. The things that you actually want them to notice, like your call to actions, your social buttons, your optin forms. Because of this combining the things you want people to notice, with the content that commands so much attention (the video) just makes sense.
BONUS: Ankur has allowed me to give away some great bonuses to anyone who picks up WP Video Profits though my link. They will be right in the members area for you to get instant access to.

A quick note about the reviews I do on this site. The product vendors give me access to their products for free in order for me to do my review. However I make no promises to them regarding the results of my tests or what I will write in my review. Should you click a link that takes you to a sales page for a paid product for sale this link will be an affiliate link and I will be paid a percentage of the sales price should you decide to invest in it.
I like the integration with mailit.
Got it
thanks for the review

Glad I could help 🙂
Hi Brett, just purchased WP Video Profits Pro and it comes with some bonus plugins as does all softwares. I read somewhere that plugins slows down the site and Google wants fast loading sites. How many plugins are acceptable?
Appreciate thanks
Thats like asking ‘how many dumplings’ can I eat. The answer is it depends, there is no exact answer.
install another plugin (yeah..funny) ….seriously, install p3 – it’s lightweight: this plugin will create a profile of your WordPress site’s plugins’ performance by measuring their impact on your site’s load time..just get rid of the ones that are really chewing up your load time and offcourse when you’re done disable wp-profile and only activate it when you want to run another test..hope this helps.
Thank you for your Review Brett, just bought via your link 🙂
This seems similar to your Soci Vids Pro plugin?
Sort of.
I really had to come back to this thread, because I was really amazed by the quality of this plugin. What I really liked was the support I got from the guys behind this product. I’ve written an email to congratulate the guys on the quality of the product but also expressed some disappointment about the fact that the FE didn’t include basic AR integration (aweber, mailchimp and getresponse). I didn’t really need the oto stuff, I just liked the basic functionality of the plugin, so I only got the FE, and I’ve expected some kind of integration with at leas some of the ARs out there and I liked the fact that it was integrated with Brett’s Mailit. But the FE didn’t have any kind of AR integration ( but the plugin does collect your emails which you can export later to your own AR)…They’ve quickly responded and offered me the pro version with full AR integration for being their customer (I do have few of their other software) , but still…..they didn’t have to do that just because I have their other software, but they did and that is so cool…Great attitude and great customer service…
