Today I am doing a review of a desktop software called Vidicle.
Vidicle is a software that was released a couple of days ago, and though I have had access to it for a bit now I have not been feeling well the last few days, got behind on my work, and am late writing my review of it. Fortunately my stuffy sinuses are keeping me from sleeping right now and even though its nearly 2am I’m awake and have time to write my review finally.
So what exactly is Vidicle? Well as you might have guessed its a software that makes videos. Specifically it makes VSL / text style videos. I have seen people reviewing this saying its an ideal software for making review type videos, or to turn your blog posts into videos, but I actually have what I feel is a much better use for Vidicle. Something that I feel this is going to be perfect for. I will explain that in a minute though, first I want to go over how this software works and point out the things I like and do not like about it.
So after getting my review access I was taken to a members area that allowed me to download the software as well as a few general bonuses, and of course the standard affiliate bonuses (which require you to opt into another marketers list in order to get). There where also some tutorial videos which I frankly did not feel like watching (and I know most customers wont either, because: We don’t need no stinking instructions!).
I was not interested in the bonuses so I went right to the software. It is provided as a .zip file, which must be unzipped to your computer. After unzipping the software I clicked on the application file and the software ran. While this sounds good, its actually the first thing that I did not like about it. Why? Because there was no installer to automatically create a desktop icon / short cut for me. While I could make one manually, that’s a pain, and some non techy people might not know how to do it. I really like installers that do things for you and this did not have one. But thats only a minor annoyance so I continued on testing.
After the software loaded I noticed the second thing I did not like about this software. The fact that there is no help or support built into it. While you can see in the screenshot above there is a help link, all clicking on it does is open up a dialog box with a link to the creators website. There is nothing in the software to direct you to any tutorial videos or to any support desk. Sure there are tutorials in the members area but I always felt that help should be built right into the software. I could never understand why some vendors make people jump though hoops to get assistance, and I cant help but think, if the vendor could show a dialog box with a link to his website he could have just as easily chosen to show a dialog box with a link to a web page that has help videos on it and a support contact form. While this is a pet peeve of mine, it might not bother you so much though.
Neither of these two things where ‘deal breakers’ that made me totally hate this software so far, so I continued testing. Fortunately those two things where also the last things that I did not like about Vidicle.
I quickly found that I made a good choice by not taking the time to watch the tutorial videos in the members area. Why? because Vidicle is super easy to use. Its very intuitive and simple. You enter your text, select your font, select your background color, add any background audio track that you want to play on your video, and optionally add a intro or outro graphic that shows. Press generate video, and in less than a minute you have a VLS style video. Below is an example of one that I made while testing:
As I said I have seen people who reviewed or are promoting Vidicle say that its ideal for turning your blog posts or reviews into videos, but I have a different idea for using it and if you watched my example video above you might have guessed what my idea is.
One of my favorite advertising platforms is Facebook ads. I love them because just about the entire world (at least the world that has internet access) is on Facebook and you can super target who see’s your ads. I have spent quite a bit of money doing all kinds of Facebook ads and I have found consistently that video ads get better results than any other kind. People like watching videos. With video ads you not only get better engagement, you pay less for that engagement. Below are some of my results from a video ad I have run:
Check out those results. 2 cents per video view, 478 views for just over $10 and a Relevance Score of 10. FYI: In case you don’t know what relevance score is: Its a measure of how your ad compares to other ads. 10 is a perfect score and is a perfect ad. I have never gotten a relevance score of over 8 with anything but a video ad. Also something you cant tell from the Facebook stats is that this ad actually links to a squeeze page and people are not only clicking the link in the ad, they are opting in. I got dozens of optins from this ad (they are not just watching the video, they are clicking the link)
Ok, so video ads work. But newbies have some big issues with them. First, they are a pain to make. Second, if you do a ‘talking’ video you have to hope that people actually un-mute the video when they see it on Facebook. However with Vidicle you can make video ads that are VLS style. They are animated videos that will autoplay and still grab peoples attension, yet since they show text, even if people do not un-mute the video you still are getting your message across. Also with Vidicle you don’t need to be a techy person, you don’t need to make screen recordings, or stand up in front of a camera. You don’t need to edit a video with a editing software. You can make videos ads quickly and easily.
While there where those two things I did not particularly care for with Vidicle I do think that this is a useful tool. But not for converting your blog posts into a video as people have said (and as they say on the sales page for this software). No one is going to watch a video that shows text of an entire blog post or an entire review. I kind of feel like that use is not the best for this software. What I think this is going to be perfect for is for making Facebook video posts (for your groups or fan pages) , and Facebook video ads. These kinds of posts and ads get the most engagement and the best results and with Vidicle you can create them quickly and easily.
Note: Vidicle is a Windows software, you can run it on a Mac but you will need a virtual machine / emulator to make it work.
What about a bonus Brett you cheap ass!: Vidicle is a useful tool that is well worth the low asking price. As I said its going to be perfect for Facebook video posts and Facebook ads. While I could give you some PLR garbage to convince you to buy, instead I’m going to give you some advise. If you pick this up, start making video posts and video ads. That’s what is going to get you results, not a hard drive full of PLR you will never use. And if you need some help with Facebook ads, simply join my Facebook group, Im always glad to be of assistance when I can:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1649180621986737/A quick note about the reviews I do on this site. The product vendors give me access to their products for free in order for me to do my review. However I make no promises to them regarding the results of my tests or what I will write in my review. Should you click a link that takes you to a sales page for a paid product for sale this link will be an affiliate link and I will be paid a percentage of the sales price should you decide to invest in it.
I suppose the “Tube Optimizer” won’t work with Facebook, will it?
Honestly, I did not test it. Though I had the OTO version as you know I strongly feel people should make a purchase decision based on the strength of the FE offer and because of this I rarely test OTO’s.
I not only like buying your products but have actually gotten to a point where I like reading your reviews because they are truly reliable. I have actually made purchases based on your reviews. If there is one thing that I respect and admire in a person, it is their integrity and the honest way that it is conveyed. I have bought products from you going back some time and as odd as it may sound… I still use them.
Thanks Brett
Thanks for the kind words and glad I can help you 🙂
Just a quick question Brett… was there not a link on the page to check out the software for description and price?
You dont see the green APPROVED graphic that also says “click here to learn more”? OR are you talking about something else?
What about a bonus Brett you cheap ass!
Self depricating humor always lifts that person up a notch or two in my book …. kinda surprised that would come from you…. must be sleep deprived 🙂
After all these years I am kind of a facebook idiot …my choice. Question, wouldn’t one of those apps that creates text to speech be more effective, rather than making the lazy viewer actually read the video or video become/facebook ad? I really need to learn more about facebook advertising.
Totally agree with you, a hard drive full of PLR, RR or MRR products is almost always worthless and I’m an excellent example of someone who collects and rarely uses. However, even if I do not use all your bonuses, they are off the charts and I’d say 50% of the time I will purchase thru your link because I want to bonus ….you see, I have great plans for those in the future……. you’ve been sick for a short time, I’ve been very sick for years so its hard to focus, hard to remember what my plans were …even if they were written down 🙂 But I can tell you that you and some others in the IM world keep me going and give me hope of climbing out of one big hole, otherwise known as the mirey pit!
So I thank you once again for your efforts and honesty.
The text is important on a FB ad for one main reason. A FB ad video auto plays, but it is also auto muted. So you ideally want something that will get your message across even if the video is not unmuted: hence the VLS style text ad. Also I personally think most text to speech sounds really robotic and harsh, so be careful for that, and also be careful for translation errors if you do use such a system.
That UI reminds me of that articles to video software that everyone and their mom were using as a bonus…
I dont believe Andy is selling PLR if thats what your thinking. Andy is a software developer like I am 🙂
Hi Brett,
Would you recommend this if it were used in conjunction with Tube Traffic?
Cheers
John
Yes thats fine to do, however as I said in my review I really believe where this will shine is using it for FB ads and FB posts.
Hi Brett
Really like your reviews. Is it possible to add a voice over layer to the videos?
Thank you.
Herb D
You can add an audio track, there is no reason your audio track cant be a voice over (if for example you wanted to do a VSL style video)
Hi Brett,
I have also purchased many of your wares and have never been deprived. You always give quality in your products. I depend a lot on your reviews and use them as a guide in most of my decisions. I also have used products from the aforementioned developer Andy. He has always been very honest as far as I have seen in his reviews. His products have always been very reasonable.
You have made my day with this review !
I’m glad to see you approve !
Hi Brett, I love your reviews and I have purchased Vidicle as I think it is very useful for getting info out on Facebook ads as you say. I will make sure I read your reviews of any product first before buying, because your are the MAN in IT. Thanks for your honesty. Keep up the good work. Get well soon
Glad I can help! 🙂
Hi Brett, I bought Vidicle throught your review but I never received access to it. Can you tell me how to contact the developer? Thanks, Larry
Ill ask Andy to stop by here and answer you.
