Today I am doing a review of the new DFY Hero web based software

Given that DFY Hero is a system designed to let people create websites super fast the very first thing I did when I logged into my review account was try to create a website. I did not watch the tutorials. I did not bother to explore the system. I did what I believe most people would do. Skip all the info and jump right into creating a site. The good news was that it was super easy. It really does take all of about 10 seconds to create a site. The bad news was the sites that this system created loaded super slow. In fact it took over 11 seconds to load, a pace which is very much unacceptable.

Now normally I would have just written off this system based on that alone, but I thought it had potential so I reached out to the vendor and reported my findings. They where very receptive to my feedback and assured me they would look into correcting the issue:

Fast forward to a couple of days ago and I went back to see if the site loading issue had been corrected and guess what: it was! So I jumped right into testing the system and within about 20 minutes I decided I hated it.

DFY Hero is a cloud based software that is built on top of WordPress. Using WordPress to build a SaaS (software as a service) is something it was never intended for. Its also something I know for sure Cindy is an advocate of because it costs less to do (I know this because she gave a speech on it at a marketing event). Its also something I personally cant stand because as a developer it feels ‘cheap’ and ‘low tech’ to me. But that’s just me and just my opinion as a developer. To the average user how the SaaS is built probably wont matter. Also the way it was built is not the reason I hated it.

DFY Hero is a system that lets people build WordPress sites. So the sites you create with it are WordPress blogs. The templates that come with it are WordPress themes (and there are a ton of them).  It also has a drag and drop page editor to allow people to easily edit the WordPress sites they create with DFY Hero.

But here is the thing: WordPress is free, there are a lot of themes that are free, and the drag and drop editor, well thats Elementor which is also .. you guessed it: free.

So basically from what I was able to see, the entire system was a wrapper for a bunch of stuff that could be had for free. I was not impressed one bit and I let the vendors know it:

They responded saying that this system has a couple of things you cant get anywhere else:

First they said that it has premium themes. This is something I cant confirm or deny. There are a ton of themes in DFY Hero and I cant go though them all and look them up in the repository to see if they are free or not. Because of this Ill just have to take their word for it. I will say this though. The themes provided are very robust. They are professional quality and fully mobile responsive. They look great.

Second they said that there was traffic training and training on how to sell this to local clients. The traffic training they pointed me to was generic PLR and the additional training was not yet completed (although they did give me a outline / syllabus).

So you can see why I was not impressed one bit. In essence DFY Hero is a system that is little more than a combination of a bunch of things that can be had for free. I hated it. It felt like a rip off to be and I was getting ready to tear it to shreds in this review. But then something occurred to me. I realized that I had forgotten the fundamental quality of a good software. Something I have been saying for years to people in this space.

A good software is a tool and a good tool makes your life easier. Based in this simple (and in my opinion very true) guideline DFY Hero is a good system despite all the things I have said about it. Let me explain:

Sure you could register a domain for every site you want to build (for yourself or your customers).
You could install WordPress on each one.
You could update WordPress manually to the newest version each time.
You could sort though themes and test them out to make sure they not only look good but are also clean, well made, and responsive.
You could install Elementor on every site you build manually (this can actually be quite a pain).

You could do all of that by hand, spending two hours or more per site you need to build just to get up and running, OR you could spend all of about 10 seconds a site and be good to go. I realized that DFY Hero is like my power driver when I am woodworking. If Im building something I could drive every screw in the piece by hand, but that sucks, instead I just use my power driver because its much faster and easier. Saving time and energy has value and that is exactly what DFY Hero does. It saves you a ton of time and energy by making site creation / deployment about a thousand times faster and easier.

Now if you are a person who will only ever build one or two sites in your IM carrier then DFY Hero is probably not for you. In that case you can pass on this and I thank you for taking the time to read this review. However if you are a person building multiple sites. If you are doing niche sites, content creation, working with offline business. building sites for clients etc. Then DFY Hero is an excellent tool simply because it will make your life so much easier. It will save you time, it will save you energy, and thus it is a good tool and a good software. In that case I say DFY Hero is:

A quick note about the reviews I do on this site. The product vendors give me access to their products for free in order for me to do my review. However I make no promises to them regarding the results of my tests or what I will write in my review. Should you click a link that takes you to a sales page for a paid product for sale this link will be an affiliate link and I will be paid a percentage of the sales price should you decide to invest in it.

    Hey Brett,

Thanks for the honest review. It’s true what you said, everyone can just install WordPress manually and set up sites like this but not everyone will. I’ve spent hundreds of hours searching for ways to fix issues that I ran into on my WordPress sites. Some people won’t take the time to learn how to do things manually and deal with any issues that may come up along the way.

With DFYHero, you can put these sites up in no time and just contact support if something goes wrong. For many it’s worth the extra money to have that extra lifeline.
